Swimming Gala 2016!
Saturday 27th February saw Tower Road win the large schools' competition for the 25th year in succession!
What a fantastic achievement!
It was an eventful night with loads of cheering and shouting! We had a team of 14 swimmers.
The competition was split into small schools, medium schools and large schools all competing against each other in freestyle, back stroke and breast stroke races.
In the small schools section, St George's, Fishtoft, Sibsey, Wyberton and Wrangle all competed against each other. With Fishtoft finishing in 5th place, Wrangle in 4th, Wyberton in 3rd, St George came 2nd and Sibsey in 1st place. Congratulations to all, especially Sibsey! It was good to see some new schools taking part.
In the medium schools, Butterwick, Hawthorn Tree, St Mary's and Boston West competed. Butterwick finished in 4th place, Boston West 3rd, St Mary's were 2nd and the winners were Hawthorn Tree. Once again congratulations to all the swimmers, especially to Hawthorn Tree.
In the large schools' section, Tower Road competed against St Thomas' and Charlton Road.
Tower Road started off with a win in the first race, then another win, and another win....
In the end we had won all of the individual races except two where we came a very close 2nd.
In the medley relay, it was Tower Road first by half a length. The freestyle race saw the team win by over a length (26m!!) Tower Road scored 78 points with St Thomas' scoring 53 points and Charlton Road 54 points. Congratulations to the Tower Road team and to the swimmers of St Thomas' and Charlton Road as it takes everyone to create the competition!
Thank you to all the spectators, Boston Swimming Club and St Mary's for organising the event.
