Girls’ Cricket Tournament.
On Tuesday 16th June five teams met at the Mayflower cricket grounds, Boston for this year’s annual girls’ cricket tournament. We sent a team of very excited year 5s.
Due to there only being five teams, the tournament was going to be a round-robin, where each would play each other.
In our first game, we were facing Carlton Road. The girls got off to a good start but the end Charlton Road took the win, 232 to 227. Close! Next game saw us playing Swineshead. The result here was in our favour, 233 to 232, even closer! In our third game we played Quadring. Again the result was in our favour 231 to 227. Our last game saw us play St Thomas’. This result went against us 235 to 232 to St Thomas’. Two wins and two loses gave us a final 3rd place result in the tournament.
The tournament winners were Swineshead, with Charlton Road in 2nd place.
Swineshead will now go onto represent the Boston area in the County finals on June 30th.
However, the Tower Road team was presented the Fair Play trophy, which is a great honour!
Well done girls!
A big thank you to all the umpires and officials from Thomas Middlecott and Boston College for making the day happen and to the spectators!
