Table Tennis Tournament: Thomas Middlecott Academy 2015
On Thursday May the 7th, twelve Tower Road year 6s took part in a Table Tennis Tournament held at Thomas Middlecott Academy, Kirton. Tower Road was joined in the competition by Sibsey Primary, Frithville and New York Primary school. The table tennis matches were officiated by Thomas Middlecott students, who guided and explained rules throughout play, such as points scoring, serving and other rules within the game.
The boys were split into 3 random groups, as were the girls. The table tennis players would then play everyone within their group once, which would then determine where the players would qualify the 2nd half of the tournament.
The top 2 players from the first round groups now formed a new group 1, the middle 2 players from the first round would then play in group 2 and finally the bottom 2 players from the first round would play in group 3. The players would then play each player within their new group, to determine where they would finish in the tournament.
After this the tournament came to a close and medals were presented to the top three players of the group 1s: bronze, silver and gold. In the girls’ league, Szonja received Silver and Gracie received Bronze. In the boy’s league, Anton took Bronze place and Siddharth took Gold.
Well done to all the players who took part. Everyone had a super time and developed their understanding and skills throughout the tournament. Many thanks to all the parents who helped with transporting the players to Kirton and for supporting them in their games.
Our thanks, also, go to Thomas Middlecott Academy for hosting, officiating and running the tournament.
