On Saturday March 19th seven schools took part in an end of term, end of season, Easter, Sports Relief Cross Country Race. Whatever the reason it was a great opportunity for all the children to compete again before the athletics season starts. Welcome to Wrangle and St George's Prep School.
Mr Hopwood, Head of Sports at William Lovell had very kindly arranged for us to use the field and to organise the course which was about 1500m.
The boys' race was first and about 50 boys took part. In the end it was Callum from Tower Road, with great determination, took the lead and took first place. He was joined by 2nd place Oliver (Boston West) and Kai (Tower Road) in 3rd place. In Harley's first run he came 7th. Well done to all the other Tower Road runners!
The girls' race came straight after with about 40girls taking part. Cerys (Tower Road) took an early lead and held the lead for most of the race, but in the end Cerys came in in 3rd place after Amy and Evie (both Boston West) took 1st and 2nd places. Erin came in 4th position with Katie H in 5th place. It was wonderful to see Aoife, a year 2 coming in 30th place. In fact the Bennett sisters made up nearly half of the girls' team! Well done to the rest of the girls!
In the team positions, Boston West took both the boys' and girls' 1st places! Well done to them. Tower Road took both 2nd places, with a only a few points between the results.
St George's Prep School boys' team came in 3rd place, with Hawthorn Tree in 4th and Wrangle in 5th.
It was Butterwick girls' team that took 3rd place, with Wrangle in 4th, St George's in 5th and Fishtoft in 6th place.
Thank you to all the runners for doing your best! Thank you to all the helpers and parents for you support.
