High 5 Netball Tournament December 2014

Boston Sports Partnership: High 5 Netball Tournament 2014.

Finally, on Tuesday 9th December, after 4 attempts the High 5 Netball Tournament took place at Middlecott Secondary School, Kirton. It had been scheduled to take place at Boston High School back in October but due to adverse weather conditions it has had to be postponed 3 times!

Five schools took part with Tower Road entering 2 teams.

The teams were divided into two groups. Tower Road A, Stickney and Hawthorn Tree formed Group 1, and Boston West, Tower Road B and Swineshead formed Group 2.

There was a mixture of indoor and outdoor games which made it all very bearable for the players and supporters! I am not too sure about the umpires as they didn’t seem to change courts, but they did an excellent job.

Tower Road A played Stickney in their first game (outside) and won 7-1 while Tower Road B played Boston West (indoors) and drew 0-0. Then Tower Road B went onto play Swineshead (outside) and won 1-6. Next game was also outside and saw Tower Road A beat Hawthorn Tree 4-0.

Onto the semi-finals and Tower Road A (winners of Group 1) played Boston West (runners-up of Group 2) inside and resulted in a score of 9-0. The other semi-final saw Hawthorn Tree (runners-up of Group 1) play Tower Road B (winners of Group 2). This resulted in a 1-1 draw at full time, so play continued until Hawthorn Tree scored the Golden Ball. It was a very exciting match.

In the final was Tower Road A and Hawthorn Tree where Tower Road A came through to win the tournament.

The final placings were Tower Road 1st, Hawthorn Tree 2nd, Tower Road 3rd, Boston West 4th and Swineshead and Stickney =5th.

Many thanks to all the umpires and the organisers. Thank you also to all the players for playing brilliantly and for the supporters for all the cheers!
