Reading at home

There is nothing more important for a child than learning how to read. As children are currently unable to go to school or play with their friends, you might find that you have some time on your hands to fill. Perhaps the ideal the opportunity to read or share a variety of books and stories.

As a parent, there are lots of things you can teach your child that as teachers we can't, so please take the opportunity to share books and stories, so fostering a life-long love of reading in your child. All you need is a book, some consistency, a little patience...then watch the magic work! 


While we understand that it may be difficult to get your hands on paper books at this time, please make use of the resources available on the websites below, which will enable you to access e-books and audio books for free.


In addition, the library has lots of e-books that you can access on-line using your library card number and PIN

Storytime Online

With access to libraries, classrooms and bookshops limited for many,  Books for Topics have been busy finding some of the best online storytimes for children to access freely at home. The QR codes and links in the document link to story readings on Youtube and all of the books they've chosen are read aloud by their fabulous authors and illustrators.
