William Lovell Cross Country Races.
The annual William Lovell cross country races took place on Monday 26th 2015. It was a bright sunny day but quite windy and chilly. It was also fairly muddy under foot. There were fourteen schools taking part with 96 boys and 90 girls, a fantastic amount!
The girls’ race was first. Felicity took the lead for quite a long way but in the end it was two girls from Boston West that took the lead and finished in 1st and 2nd places. Tower Road girls came in together in 4th, Emily, 5th Felicity, 6th Katie H and 7th Beth. Their combined score of 22 put them in first place in the team race.
The boys’ race came next. Several of them took off at such a pace that they couldn’t sustain it. That allowed Joshua and Anton to take the lead. Both stretched out their lead with Joshua just ahead of Anton all the way! Joshua eventually came in 1st, with Anton 2nd, Callum 3rd and Eli 4th. They had a combined score of 10 points, which put them in first team place too!
All the other Tower Road runners ran well. Several improving their placings from their last race at the High School.
Thank you to all the parents and grandparents, who turned up to support the runners. Thank you to Mr Hopwood and the students of William Lovell for running the event.
