Year 5 and 6 Indoor Athletics Area Final January 2017

Boston Area Indoor Athletics Final.

What an exciting afternoon! What a fantastic atmosphere! And what brilliant displays of sportsmanship. Friday afternoon saw this year's indoor athletics final, where 8 local schools came together to compete for a place in the large schools and small schools County finals at Grantham later this term.

We started with two great wins in the obstacle races, which got us off to a positive start.

The boys and girls each took turns in competing on the track and in the field events till the final races of the afternoon- the 4x1 relays. By now the atmosphere was electric. So much cheering, singing and clapping taking place!

The final results were totalled. We had no idea how well we had done so it was so exciting waiting for the results. 8th place Sibsey- who were runners up in the small school competition! 7th place Kirton, 6th place- Swineshead. 5th St Mary's with 184 points. 4th place- Stickney with 196 points and the winners of the small schools competition. 3rd place- Donington with 266 points. Now for the top two and still we weren't sure of the outcome. 2nd place and runners up were Hawthorn Tree with 288 points. and in 1st place and representing Boston in the County Finals were Tower Road with 338 points.

Congratulations to all the athletes. Thank you to Boston College students for helping support the event and to Mr Haslam for organising. and finally thank you to the parents who came to support and cheer us on!

Winning smiles all round! Fantastic result!
