Learning for Life
Knowledge ~ Values ~ Opportunities
1. THIS WEEK
This week, pupils from Year 5 have taken part in Bikeability and are now experts at riding safely on the road. We have loved having Year 4 parents into school to sew a mock Viking purse with the children. We have also had online safety workshops for Year 2 and NSPCC Number Day!
Sports News The Year 5/6 Cross Country team took part in a competition on Tuesday and did a brilliant job in the cold!
Today, the Year 5/6 girls football team travelled to Hull to take part in the Boston United football competition, and a Year 5/6 team are taking part in a Kurling (an indoor version of curling) tournament at Peter Paine.
2. PARENTS’ EVENING
We look forward to seeing you all next week at Parents’ Evening on Monday and Tuesday evening. Please make sure you are on time for your appointment; teachers need to stick to the 10-minute slot carefully to avoid being late for the next appointment.
The Book Fair
Boston Bookworms Book Fair will be in the Gym from 3:15pm to approximately 5:00pm on both evenings. Each book is £3.50. Only children in KS2 may bring money in the afternoon.
Clubs
The following clubs will not be running on Monday (9th) of next week.
- Year 3 & 4 Board Games
- Year 4, 5 and 6 Art Skills
- Year 5 & 6 Netball
- Year 5 & 6 Benchball
Other clubs on Monday not listed above and clubs in the rest of the week are still running as normal. All clubs will resume as normal after half term.
4. BOOKING DENTAL APPOINTMENTS
We understand that children need to attend regular dental appointments. However, where possible, please book your child’s dentist appointments outside of school hours. This could be before school (your child can come into school after the appointment), after school, or during school holidays and half term.
5. NEXT WEEK IS CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK
The theme this year is ‘This is My Place” which is all about the importance of belonging.
We are inviting children to take part in an art activity at home. They are invited to create a map showing all the places, groups and activities that help them feel like they belong.
If your child would like to bring it back to school, we will display them in the school entrance throughout the week.
Attached is a document with all you need to know and prompts to help discussion. this-is-my-place-art-project-childrens-mental-health-week-2026.pdf
6. HOUSE AMBASSADOR COMPETITION
The House Ambassadors are delighted to announce a half term art competition!
You may know that our four school houses are named after fantasy creatures: griffins, phoenix, unicorns and dragons. The House Ambassadors would like to replace the old drawings on the house points board in the Sports Hall (that are nearly 10 years old) with new pieces of artwork that represent the animals.
Children have been told about the competition today and are asked to bring in their final designs into school on Monday 23 February for the House Ambassadors to judge.
7. BRITISH SCIENCE WEEK – CAN YOU HELP US?
Do you have a job linked to science? Are you a nurse, doctor, pharmacist, engineer, electrician, data analyst, environmental scientist, veterinary nurses, farmer, optician, builder, mechanic…?
If so, we would LOVE to have you into school to talk with a group of children on Friday 13 March, 2:40 – 3:00pm during British Science Week to help us spread the word about different jobs linked to science.
You might talk about what your job involves, the skills you use, what you enjoy, what you find challenging, and the qualifications or training required. Children will also have the opportunity to ask questions – they will be easy to answer, we promise! And you are welcome to bring props!
If you are interested in taking part, please contact the school office or email info@tr.keystonemat.org
8. BEYOND THE PHYSICAL HOLIDAY CAMP
Attached is a poster with information about the Holiday Camp being hosted at Tower Road Academy on Thursday 19 February 2026.
9. VOTES FOR SCHOOLS

Lots of you voted this week, thank you. The children love hearing what you have to say. It was a nearly 50/50 split on your votes!
