Modern Foreign Languages at Tower Road Academy

Our vision for MFL ~ fluency, conversation, celebration. 

fluency ~ Pupils listen and respond, orally and in writing, with confidence to questions and commands using key French vocabulary.  Pupils recap and revisit key vocabulary explicitly and weaved within every topic that they study. Knowledge of a bank of French phonemes further support the pupils with their fluency and ability to decode new words.  

conversation ~ Pupils develop the ability to hold a conversation in French building on single words and phrases they have learnt. An understanding of basic grammar, including masculine, feminine and plural will support the pupils in holding more accurate conversations.  

celebration ~ Pupils have a clear understanding and respect for the wide variety of cultures represented within our school community. European Languages Day, responses to the register and content of assemblies support in the implementation of this.
