RE
Our vision for Religious Education ~ respect, community, reflective
respect ~ Pupils show respect for people who have a belief or culture different to their own. Pupils are compassionate and show empathy for others, expressing their understanding of others' beliefs and practices.
community ~ Pupils celebrate the diversity of our school, our country, and our world. They do this because they have a deepening knowledge of the origin of different religions and how these are practised.
reflective ~ Pupils freely express their beliefs in a safe environment. Discussions lead pupils to reflect on their own spiritual development and their place in modern Britain.
Withdrawal from Religious Education lessons
Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education (RE) lessons.
If you wish to request withdrawal, you will need to complete a form which is available from the school office.
While we respect the right of withdrawal, we encourage families to consider the broad and educational nature of our RE curriculum, which explores a range of world views, religions, and ethical questions in a non-confessional way. Our aim is to promote understanding, respect, and critical thinking for all pupils.
The school will make suitable arrangements for any pupil who has been withdrawn from RE.
